The Rose Society by Maria Lu (#2 in The Young Elites series)
“Once upon a time, a girl had a father, a prince, a society of friends. Then they betrayed her, and she destroyed them all…”
Adelina Amouteru’s heart is set on revenge. Now known and feared as the White Wolf, she flees Kenettra to find other Young Elites in the hopes of building her own army.
Her goal: To strike down the Inquisition Axis, the white-cloaked soldiers who nearly killed her.
But Adelina is no heroine. The leader of the Inquisition, wants her dead, and her former friends at the Dagger Society want to stop her thirst for vengeance. Adelina struggles to cling to the good within her. But how can someone be good, when her very existence depends on darkness?
I was greatly disappointed on how this book ended. Very disappointed. I’m not sure what else to say, the main character got so out of hand and she was pretty annoying. My favourite character would have been the Rainmaker or Magiano (I FORGOT HOW TO SPELL IT!).
The overall plot was great but the ending was horrible. I guess some people would disagree but I didn’t like it. I felt like the main character changed too much by the end which resulted in her killing some of her friends (I mean, were friends).
Rainmaker and Magiano got what they wanted in the end, money, I would say that Magiano cared a lot about Adelina during the book but I think he was disappointed in what she had became. A killer, a queen and a monster. I could just imagine his face mixed with disappointment and sadness. Ok, back to the review.
The cover of the book looks fantastic! I was extremely excited to read this book because of the cover. I have mixed emotions about the book as a whole but I do recommend it to people who like badass main characters and depressing or negative endings for books.
I give this book a… um… I am not entirely sure I should give this a three or a two. I’ll be kind. I give it a 3/5.
