REVIEW- All The Bright Places by Jennifer Niven (5/5)

All The Bright Places by Jennifer Niven

Theodore Finch is fascinated by death, and he constantly thinks of ways he might kill himself. But each time, something good, no matter how small, stops him.

Violet Markey lives for the future, counting the days until graduation, when she can escape her Indiana town and her aching grief in the wake of her sister’s recent death.

When Finch and Violet meet on the ledge of the bell tower at school, it’s unclear who saves whom. And when they pair up on a project to discover the “natural wonders” of their state, both Finch and Violet make more important discoveries: It’s only with Violet that Finch can be himself—a weird, funny, live-out-loud guy who’s not such a freak after all. And it’s only with Finch that Violet can forget to count away the days and start living them. But as Violet’s world grows, Finch’s begins to shrink.

When I read this book it was amazing. I seriously couldn’t put it down, if you like The Fault In Our Stars you’ll like this. But I’ll be honest when I say that I think this book is way better than TFIOS.

I have never cried about a book so much in my life. The characters were written perfectly and the storyline was perfect.

Violet and Finches experiences together were a picture perfect relationship between them, they started on the school bell tower both trying to commit suicide. I was on the edge of my seat from the start. I couldn’t believe that they were going through a lot and still had each other.

The end was the worst part of the book (More like the saddest part). Violet was trying to make Finch happier and yet he runs away from her and life (Is that a spoiler?).  Finch saves Violet, Violet saves Finch in some way or another.

ALL I CAN SAY IS AMAZING! It was a moving and sad book. I really recommend to all as it is an important yet precious piece of writing. I give this book a🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟.

A trip to remember…

So recently I went to Sydney. Look at those amazing pictures you’re thinking. I took them with my horrible phone so you may not see much. For those who live in other places of the world and do not know what the things or places are in these photos they are Sydney Harbour Bridge and Sydney Opera House. (Some of the photos were taken on the ferry and some people who I didn’t know were in it so I had to cut it down.)

AS YOU CAN SEE! I finally went to the biggest Dymocks store I have ever been to. The store right in the centre in the CBD of Sydney. I only get to go there once in a life time (not literally, my last time was about two years ago) and it was amazing. There was around seventeen different book shelves full of books. I was only allowed to buy three so 😦

When I went to the check out the lady told me about a YA talk/meeting, but I couldn’t go as I was on a ferry at the time. Plus the author that was coming I had never heard of. I wanted to go…

Now I am frantically searching online to see when the next YA meet will be then I’ll literally drag my brother or my mum to it. I can’t find it now. 😦

So the three amazing books I bought areeeeee…. (DRUM ROLL PLEASE)

GONE by Michael Grant

(Been wanting this one for ages. I always went into my towns book shop and there is always only the second one. SO I GOT IT THERE)

Red Queen by Victoria Aveyard

(One of my friends suggested this one cause’ she was reading it at school one day and I liked how it sounds. Again it wasn’t in my book shop)

The Unbecoming Of Mara Dyer by Michelle Hodkin

(So my friends love giving me suggestions for books when I never need more. Soup from TooMuchInformation recommended it for me and she says she is absolutely ADDICTED to it.)

In the end my trip to Sydney on Saturday was amazing. I spent atleast two hours in that bookstore. So happy about that, now I am just happy to see my friends and my grandparents. Ok… So another review will finally come on Friday or Saturday depending on how I feel.

THANKSSSS See ya later!

Most Recently Bought Books

Most recently bought books. I haven’t read any of them yet, I have started The Rest Of Us Just Live Here but I haven’t completed it. I’ve just been too stressed to read at the moment so I had to do a post on Everything Everything so I didn’t disappoint.

The Shannara Chronicles – The Elfstones of Shannara by Terry Brooks

Anyone been watching the TV show? I had no idea what Shannara was before I saw that there was a TV series! I was actually pretty excited with every episode that came but I have only watched three episodes (Due to issues at home and school). I love the new cover!!! (Shown ABOVE ^) Its a fantasy trilogy set in the distant future with elves, trolls and anything you can think of that can go in a fantasy world. This book isn’t the first book in the trilogy but is said by many to read this one before #1.

Ancient Evil threatens the Elves: The ancient tree created by long-lost Elven magic, is dying. When Wil Ohmsford is summoned to guard the Amberle on a perilous quest to gather a new seed for a new tree, he is faced with the Reaper, the most fearsome of all Demons. And Wil is without power to control them….

The Rest Of Us Just Live Here by Patrick Ness

I can tell you that it is amazing to see a story with characters that are not like the ones that are going to die or have something terrible done to them if they don’t save the world. I love how Micky is just telling the story as HIS life and nothing really odd happens (Only towards the middle of the book). He only wants to finish high school and avoid the strange goings on around him. AMAZING. I am yet to finish it.

The one who’s supposed to fight the zombies, or the soul-eating ghosts, or whatever the heck this new thing is, with the blue lights and the death?

What if you’re like Mikey? Who just wants to graduate and go to prom and maybe finally work up the courage to ask Henna out before someone goes and blows up the high school. Again.

Because sometimes there are problems bigger than this week’s end of the world, and sometimes you just have to find the extraordinary in your ordinary life.

Even if your best friend is worshipped by mountain lions.

Award-winning writer Patrick Ness’s bold and irreverent novel powerfully reminds us that there are many different types of remarkable

I’ll Give You The Sun by Jandy Nelson

So I kind of only bought this book because it sounded interesting and I kept seeing reviews on Tumblr that said it was so good. I’ve seen some of the quotes that come out of this book and I cannot wait to dig into it (When I actually have time). MY FAVOURITE QUOTE I SAW “Maybe some people are just meant to be in the same story.”AMAZING!!!!

Jude and her twin brother, Noah, are incredibly close. At thirteen, isolated Noah draws constantly and is falling in love with the charismatic boy next door, while daredevil Jude cliff-dives and wears red-red lipstick and does the talking for both of them. But three years later, Jude and Noah are barely speaking. Something has happened to wreck the twins in different and dramatic ways . . . until Jude meets a cocky, broken, beautiful boy, as well as someone else—an even more unpredictable new force in her life. The early years are Noah’s story to tell. The later years are Jude’s. What the twins don’t realize is that they each have only half the story, and if they could just find their way back to one another, they’d have a chance to remake their world.

Tomorrow, When The War Began by John Marsden

My mum has been bothering me to read this book since year seven, she recently just re-read it and said she loved it once again still having the same feelings and reactions as she read it the first time. I mean I’ve wanted to read it but I said to her last month “I’ll only read it if its hardcopy”. Well look at that. I’ve got it. I’ve watched the movie… Is that good enough? Set in our very own Australia and some country tries to take over thinking that they need their fair share in land. These teens try to fight off these people because they INVADED their town and may have killed some of their friends/family and such. I’m sure everyone knows the basic story line so I’ll get to the synopsis.

When Ellie and her friends return from a camping trip in the Australian bush, they find things hideously wrong — their families are gone. Gradually they begin to comprehend that their country has been invaded and everyone in their town has been taken prisoner. As the reality of the situation hits them, they must make a decision — run and hide, give themselves up and be with their families, or fight back.

So this is the end of the first post… without Cailey on the blog. Its sad really. I thought we were going to blog anything and everything we thought about life, books and uh- just everything.

I hope you guys enjoyed todays post. EXPECT A REVIEW THIS WEEK TOO! I may or may not tell you before hand which book it is… OK BYE FOR NOW.

What we’ve been doing for the past week or so…

OK. So as most Australian people would know, school started back on the 29th on January! GREAT! Not for me. One of my friends from my previous high school came to my school. I’m not saying its a bad thing… I’m just saying I am not very happy about being in nearly every single one of her classes.

She was one of my best friends but she gets sh*tty with me for not hanging out with her when she purposely walks away from my group and I. I told her that she might not fit in with our group and that she might have to find some other friends but she ISNT OPEN TO FINDING FRIENDS. She said to one of my friends ‘I don’t do groups’. Wait a second. OUR SCHOOL IS MADE UP OF GROUPS. I don’t even get why she moved to my school because a week and a day in she already says she HATES it. I guess the big school life isn’t for everyone. Doesn’t mean she should blame me for her mistake in coming to my school.

I really want to tell her to get over herself. I’m not going to baby her for the rest of high school. Thats three years away. If she wants to move FINE. If she feels left out, why doesn’t she tell me! If she doesn’t like it then she should find some new friends! Its only been a week and a day and shes causing trouble.

Sorry about above. I just had to let my feelings out, I can’t really talk to Cailey much because she is only in ONE of my classes this year. How horrible. My absolute best friend and ONLY ONE CLASS.

Its so sad…

I honestly have no idea what I am posting about. We havent posted since… I HAVE NO IDEA. WE ARE SO SORRY. SCHOOL IS SO HECTIC AND TERRIBLE. THIS YEAR IS TERRIBLE. I HOPE IT GETS BETTER. I literally started crying on Monday because of school. Not because of classes but because of everything else. Not my friends that I made last year but the one I’ve know since year seven.

What I Should Have Done :

  • Talk to her (My friend from previous school) about it (I probably should have).
  • Talk to Cailey about it (I tried).
  • Not cry about it.

So its Saturday today and I’ve actually got some Math homework. Yay for my new teacher who is actually really amazing. I apologise to those starting year seven (I must sound like an idiot saying school is really bad so far), year nine was the best year of my life. Year ten has started out really crap. For me only. I don’t know about anyone else.

I take back everything. School is stupid. Cailey was totally right. All I have got to do is put my head down and work, work towards graduating and going to university. Thats good right?
